Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules
Welcome to the Next Grade
Greg Heffley, the kid who made "wimpy" cool, is back in this sidesplitting sequel based on the second installment of the best-selling book series! Having rid himself of the Cheese Touch, Greg enters the next grade with his confidence and friendships intact, and an eye on the new girl in town, Holly Hills. But at home, Greg is still at war with his older brother, Rodrick, so their parents have handed down the toughest "punishment" imaginable - forcing the boys to spend quality time with each other.

Topping the first film, Rodrick Rules combines the second and third books in a very strong whole. This is funnier, meatier and utilises even more of those humourous animated doodles. Director David Bowers (jumping to live-action after directing the animated films Astro Boy and Flushed Away) manages to add to the world established by Thor Freudenthal and Jeff Kinney. The emotional aspect that I felt faltered the first time around actually succeeds in becoming poignant here as the relationship between Greg and Rodrick is done with the right touch of humour and heart. Unlike the Greg-Rowley friendship, it actually feels like the two are worthy of being stuck together. This is an unusual film series that could have easily faltered, but in respecting Kinney's work while still understanding to transfer it to film, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules is a winner.Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules - TheWiz
The first one included a great introduction to the charachters, a predictable but interesting plot (to a pre-teen or child leaving the totter age) and agreeable direction and acting. This second edition falls short and moves from predictable to just plain ordinary. My teenager, who viewed the first movie, walked away from the second leaving my 10 year old to watch it on her own accompanied by her parents. So, definately for the young ones and not much furhter than that.Grab popcorn, laugh - owen8
This movie delivers lots of lol moments that you may not expect. I laughed through the entire 'peeping Tom' scene. The family dynamic keeps you smiling throughout the entire movie. The interaction good and bad between the brothers seemed very real. This movie will not win any awards but will make reach for some popcorn and laugh.
