Rango
Get ready to tango with Rango, a winner with critics and audiences that's "like nothing you've ever seen before" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone). Johnny Depp is spectacular as Rango, a kooky pet chameleon who gets tossed into a wild and raucous town in desperate need of a hero. Refreshingly original with eye-popping animation, Rango is "loads of fun and genuinely funny" (Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times).

Expecting a child's show but would not watch with my preschooler - fl09
I expected a child's show with this animated feature but my husband and I watched after our preschooler was in bed one night and we would not bother to show it to him. The jokes and lines were so focussed on adult appeal that I feel the child appeal may have been lost in this movie. Too bad. Johnny Depp is usually so much fun. This was not my favorite movie wiht him starring in it. I left the end of the movie feeling rather ho-hum about it.OK - Sprock
Rango was a good film, but not great. It started or with lots of promise, but soon faded into the mundane. There was nothing really new about the story, definitely not up to Pixar or Disney standards. Rango himself wasn't a very good character, and the humor was not especially strong. OK to watch, but don't make a night of it.Amazing Animation and Characters - PrinceofIdleness
Johnny Depp's power as an actor extends so far that, even as a sway-backed, pot-bellied chameleon, he's engaging and, well, not attractive, but I did say he was engaging.
The story line is part Chinatown, part Blazing Saddles, part Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. The voice performances and animation keep it interesting, and there are lots of fun little bits to listen for, such as an allusion during a major chase scene to one of the dumbest lines to ever come out of Counsellor Deanna Troy's mouth on Star Trek the Next Generation.
The best part about dvds from Zip.ca is you can watch them several times - at your leisure - when a movie warrants careful watching. I watched Rango three times, in a row, and saw and heard something new each time.
Finally, Bill Nighy's performance as the big bad rattlesnake accomplished the impossible and stole every scene from Johnny Depp's Rango.
