Scream 4
New decade. New rules.
Directed by suspense master and director of the first trilogy, Wes Craven, Scream 4 is the newest installment in the acclaimed franchise that ushered in a new wave of horror in the 1990's. In Scream 4, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now author of a self-help book, returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with Sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and Gale (Courtney Cox), who are now married, as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts). Unfortunately Sidney's appearance also brings about the return of Ghost Face, putting Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, along with Jill, her friends (Hayden Panattiere, Rory Culkin) and the whole town of Woodsboro in danger.

Scream 4: dont *#@! with the original - Sibyl
I was surprised by all the low ratings...although I understand why one would rate this low...At first I was having problems deciding when the real movie was going to start and was convinced the whole thing was going to be a spoof...but when the real movie started..it was quick and dirty, nothing too brutal, but enough to keep you squirming to press pause to make sure the dead bolt on the door is locked...If the ending did not turn out the way it did, I would have rated lower...Over all... the quick and dirty is what you would expect... but the revealing at the end might surprise you... The acting was very believable...the plot was true to horror allegory...It was...okay. - lochkray
I put it about on par with the second one. Which was better than the third, but nowhere near as good as the first.
The major problem (for me) was that it didn't have enough "new" to say about horror movies - which was what made the first one so great in the first place. In #4, they picked on and spoofed a few changes in the genre over the past fifteen years, but there just wasn't enough to go on to propel the narrative.
And if a Scream movie isn't making a commentary on horror, then it's just people running away from a guy with a knife. And for that, we've been-there-done-that so many times, they made a meta tongue-in-cheek horror movie about it. In 1996.
They called it Scream.Scream 4 has trihard written all over it. - movie_goer
The 90's are long gone, Obama is president and Courtney Cox is no longer a friend.
Scream 4 brings back the remaining 'Living' characters to the maritime smalltown for 1 more thrust at fighting to stay alive. While the infamous masked killer lurks in the dark streets of the night, taunts the moronic and kills those who don't lock their doors. Its nothing special or orginal from the 3 previous movies.
With the stench of desperation lingering in the thick summer air, Courtney Cox attempts to cast fresh face actors and take lead as director. Scream 4 is neither relevant or entertaining. Its So HORRIBLE its funny!
