Water for Elephants
Academy Award winners Reese Witherspoon and Christoph Waltz join Robert Pattinson (The Twilight Saga) for this epic tale of forbidden love based on Sara Gruen's acclaimed best seller. Against all odds, a veterinary student (Pattinson) and a beautiful circus performer from a bygone era (Witherspoon), meet and fall in love through their shared compassion for a special elephant. I really enjoyed this movie, I thought the acting was very good, and I am now a Robert Pattinson fan. It was intriguing from the beginning. After watching I wanted to read the book, which was much better, just because they can add a lot more detail in the book I suppose, and you find out more about the characters. Things happen a little differently in the book also. I did enjoy the movie also. If you are a big animal lover, you may find some scene hard to watch. Not there they show very much, but more is implied. I am an animal lover, but I could handle it.Water for Elephants - rudy123
Yes it is worth a watch if you like good plots and good acting. You will not find massive explosions and body parts flying everywhere, although there are some minor tussles and people somehow end of the train when it is moving.
You have a 19 year old working to becoming an animal doctor who finds his way to the circus. This is not the ringling brothers!Worth watching.... - ByeByeCable
Definitely the type of movie that my husband would refer to as a "chick flick". Pattison did a good job in his role as a veterinary school student (Jacob) who, after experiencing a personal tragedy ends up with a travelling circus, as did Witherspoon in her role as Marlena, who is both the star of the "show" and the circus masters wife. As the Benzini Bros. Circus Vet, Jacob experiences first hand the harsh reality of being part of a travelling circus after his compassion for the animals and his feelings for Marlena conflict with the circus master's idea of what is acceptable. This is definitely a great date movie.
