Wow, and 80's period piece....:) Fun just the same. I like Topher Grace. To bad this movie doesn't do much for his career. Just alot of "cool group" mischief. "riding the ball" was kind of funny. As usual, guy trying to impress girl with job and car he does not have or own. Can't believe his police officer Dad would let him get away with the antics in the movie......FeelGOOD - Thrills_n_Chills
A simple yet funny feel-good type movie. Topher was great, the characters are simple and admittedly not tht complex, BUT ENTERTAINING. Why does a movie HAVE to fire on all cylinders evey time?? The supporting actor playing Tophers friend is genuinely funny.
The concept of taking a chance in life is basic sure, but your not beat over the head with it either. In the end its a fun ride back to the 80s, music soundtrack is great & there is a really funny music video in the extras!!Graced With More of the Same - c4th
Quickly, I am coming to regard Topher Grace as a one trick pony as once again I view him play in a romantic comedy as the apprehensive male unable to garner enough confidence to tell a girl how he feels about her and generally dissatisfied with the path along which life is taking him. First there was Pete in Win A Date With Tad Hamilton, then Carter in In Good Company, and now Matt. Don’t get me wrong. I think he plays these roles extremely well and reminds many of us of our own frailties and trepidations. I just feel it’s time for him to step out of his comfort zone and extend his range rather than continuing to play similar characters demonstrating the same nuances time and time again.
The movie follows a common formula in which post teens reunite and celebrate to the extreme. There were parts of this movie I enjoyed and could have overlooked the rather cavalier view taken of cocaine use, had the plot offered just a little something that was fresh and original. The story offered none of this but one acting performance did. Anna Faris steps into a role far more serious than the zany characters we have become accustomed to seeing her play. She is remarkably convincing as Matt’s twin sister contemplating the abandonment of a mundane path in life for one offering more adventure, challenge and personal growth. As for the male lead, if you haven’t seen Topher Grace in his other movies, I highly recommend you rent this to see him play a role that few others can do as well. If you’ve seen him do it before as I have, you may find this just more of the same.
