This movie totally SUCKED! It was almost as bad as "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd." It wasn't funny, it didn't entertain me, and though the plot is followable the story is flat, predictable, and didn't even attempt to engage me. On a base level this movie had the potential to be a gut busting comedy but suffers from bad acting, unimaginative writing, and even worse direction. However, I suppose this movie could serve as a good example of what happens when the movie making powers that be make the wrong decisions and pull in all of the wrong people for a comedy film, but I digress. Moving on...
I expected better performances from Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel, Justin Timberlake was not the least bit convincing as a substitute teacher or as a man of wealth, and Lucy Punch was either miscast as Amy Squirrel or she's just a really bad actress. Her character was annoying not in a comedy sense but in a totally annoying sense. The rest of the cast just seemed to be there to take up time and space. I can't say much for the writers other than they have writing credits for the TV show "The Office." If this is their best effort for writing a comedy film then they should just stick to TV, and I'm not joking about that. As for the direction I suppose that Jake Kasdan did an okay job with "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" but he totally missed the mark on this film. I'm not sure what his vision of this film was supposed to be but I would bet money that the concepts of "funny" and "entertaining" were not part of that equation.
If you have never seen this film and aren't sure whether or not you should spend your time doing so then I highly recommend that you read a good cross-section of the reviews, especially the bad reviews. There is a lot of truth in those bad reviews. As for me I wish I would have done the same and more so wish I hadn't wasted my time with this P-O-S film. For me watching this movie was a painfully long 90-minutesCute, funny and outlandish - movie_goer
Wow, Bad teacher isn't all that bad!
The raunchy rom-com may have been loaded with an A-listed cast but it was Lucy Punch pulled off an out standing ovations of laughs. Unfortunetly for Diaz she may have been present but only offered her usual sensuality, looks as the foundation for her role. Her character lacked heart, or any reason to actually like her or feel sorry for her wanting a breast job. Plus their wasn't enough of funnyman Jason Segel... who's humor could have been utilized more. enough said.Fine, but light on laughs - eli_quincy
Your enjoyment of Bad Teacher will likely depend on your expectations. If you want a passable comedy with a few laughs that breezes by at a fairly brisk pace, Bad Teacher is a fine way to spend an afternoon. If you're looking for anything more than that, you'll be disappointed. The primary problem for me was in Cameron Diaz's performance -- honestly, she just doesn't have the chops to carry a comedy.
