Vanishing on 7th Street
Stay in the light.
Vanishing On 7th Street taps into one of humankind's most primal anxieties: fear of the dark. An unexplained blackout plunges the city of Detroit into total darkness, and by the time the sun rises, only a few people remain-surrounded by heaps of empty clothing, abandoned cars and lengthening shadows. A small handful of strangers that have survived the night (Hayden Christensen, Thandie Newton, John Leguizamo and Jacob Latimore) each find their way to a rundown bar. With daylight beginning to disappear completely and whispering shadows surrounding the survivors, they soon discover that the enemy is the darkness itself.

1) Super scary film, totally frightening -- I kept my cell phone light on so I could get some sleep after. Scary night.
2) Amazing suspence and building sense of terror.
3) Left me with a lingering mood and that wonderful feeling you get after a horror film, when you were scared while still knowing that you were not in any real danger.Vanishing interest. - owen8
Not really sure what the point of this movie was. Not every movie has to have a point but this one should have. It did have an over all felling of dread but after awhile this dissipated just like the shadows. None of the actors could really rise to the occasion. There was not really much to rise to. There are some many good post-apocalyptic movies out there. This is not one of them.Boredom on 7th Street - Amadeus
This movie has a potentially good idea for a story but due to bad writing it simply does not deliver. It starts out good enough and as a viewer I really wanted to get into this movie but the story is so flat it makes it really hard. Hayden Christensen has never been a strong actor in my point of view (yes, he is gorgeous) and this is actually one of his better performances but he struggles as a lead in this movie. Thandie Newton is good as a single mother desperate to find her child, John Leguizamo is disappointing as awkward Paul and newcomer Jacob Latimore is totally unconvincing as a wannabe tough kid looking for his mom. There is very little character and story development and about forty minutes into the movie I became really frustrated with the "try-hard suspense" scene after scene with absolutely no climax. I could not wait for this movie to finish and held on to the hope that the story will actually go somewhere but unfortunately it doesn't. Although I did like the very very very small surprise ending (I'm making that sound a lot more interesting then what it actually is).
If you decide to watch this movie expect it to be the worst movie you've ever seen, because that might be the only way that this bore ends up surprising you a little....by being the second worst. Yes, there are unfortunately way worse movies out there but that is the only positive thing I can say about Vanishing On 7th Street: Could have been OK if the story actually went somewhere... I've seen worse.
