Trust
What took her family years to build, a stranger stole in an instant.
A suburban family is torn apart when fourteen-year-old Annie (Liana Liberato) meets her first boyfriend online. After months of communicating via online chat and phone, Annie discovers her friend is not who he originally claimed to be. Shocked into disbelief, her parents (Clive Owen and Catherin Keener) are shattered by their daughter's actions and struggle to support her as she comes to terms with what has happened to her once innocent life.

This is a very powerful movie. In a very sensitive way, it is the best movie I ever watched. Yes, it probably focuses on the dad character, but by doing so it emphasizes the tragedy of the whole situation and the sickness of society as a whole when it comes to this type of crimes. Enough said!Amazing Glimpse Into Online Seduction - c4th
Writers Andy Bellin, and Robert Festinger provide an amazing glimpse into the world of online seduction of teenage girls by sexual offenders. First we observe the subtlety with which a perpetrator advances his agenda while simultaneously congealing the trust of his victim. Director David Schwimmer brings the story to life on the screen in a way which clearly exposes the psyche of the young victims, giving us some insight and understanding of why teens innocently fall prey to such advances. The aftermath of the crime is even more revealing. The victim in Bellin and Festinger’s story typically copes with feelings of self doubt by defending her victim and normalizing his actions.
The story continues as viewers are taken on an emotional journey of healing required by a personally violated teen as she and her family attempt to shed feelings of guilt and helplessness. The ending emphasizes that victims of such crimes can never reach total resolution and must find inner strength and coping skills that allow them to press forward.
This movie does not rely solely on a well written story and competent directing however. The effects of this crime on the rape victim and her family are beautifully revealed through exceptional acting performances by Liana Liberato as the rape victim and Clive Owen and Catherine Keener as her parents. Also worthy of mention is the role of the rape councillor played by Viola Davis.
Trust is not only a movie that offers an important message for teens and parents but one which provides excellent dramatic entertainment for all adolescents and adults. Rent it, enjoy it, and learn from it.A strong, compelling and disturbing story that struggles to reach a decent ending. - moviemonger
TRUST is a film that should have been powerful. It has a great cast, including two of the finest actors in the biz, Clive Owen, and Catherine Keener. It also has a frightening, and disturbingly relevant plot, involving a sexual predator targeting a young girl through through the use of online social networking sites. One thing that also must be mentioned is the way the trailers have completely misrepresented the film, as they seem to be trying to sell this as some kind of Clive Owen revenge flick. There`s no crowning moment of vengeance for Owen as the trailer seems to suggest. Probably the only thing that saves TRUST from being a truly horrible piece of work are the performances from Owen and Keener, who almost manage to salvage the film. Keener makes for a very believable, and caring mother, while Owen delivers a great performance as a father torn apart by the self-imposed guilt of not being able to protect his daughter. Both performances are far better than the film deserves. I'd say TRUST is one of the few truly bad ones I've seen. It had potential, but the execution is all wrong, as it should have been handled with more sensitivity. Granted, it's a tough subject, but sadly, the people behind this were, in my opinion, not up to the task.
