Shut up crime!
When sad-sack loser Frank (Rainn Wilson, <The Office), a short-order cook, sees his ex-addict wife (Liv Tyler, The Lord of the Rings) willingly snatched away by a seductive drug dealer (Kevin Bacon), he finds himself bereft and unable to cope. But he decides to fight back under the guise of a do-it-yourself superhero called Crimson Bolt.
With a red hand-made suit, a wrench, a crazed sidekick named Boltie (Ellen Page, Juno) - and absolutely nothing in the way of superpowers - Crimson Bolt beats his way through the mean streets of crime in hopes of saving his wife.

Certainly not for everybody's taste. A wacky dark comedy with silly gangsters, gruesome violence, surreal dream sequences, realistic gore, poignient character introspection, and two - count them, two - rape scenes. One involving a female on a male victim.
I liked the movie, but it felt like the script needed a pass or two more through the editing machine to find a more even mood. The cast was great, and some of the scenes and concepts were hillarious, but I had difficulty handling the sudden and constant shifts in tone.Feeling mixed - PeterParker
Not sure how I feel about this. First, the cast was superb. The storyline was quirky and I expected more of a comedy.
The violence was gory and Ellen Page was more or less crazy balls. Not saying either aspect was good or bad.
In the end I've been mulling this movie over more than I would a cheesy spoof on the super-hero. I liked watching the 'why are there no real superheros' question being answered. Similar to kick-ass but not quite.
