Henry's Crime
If you've done the time, do the crime.
"With a terrific cast led by Keanu Reeves, Vera Farmiga and a splendid James Caan, Henry's Crime is a fun comedy with irresistible heist and heart." (Boxoffice Magazine) Reeves stars as Henry Torne, a wrongly accused man who winds up behind bars for a bank robbery he didn't commit. After befriending a charismatic lifer (Caan) in prison, Henry finds his purpose - having done the time, he decides he may as well do the crime. But his outlandish plan to rob the very same bank spins wildly out of control, as he finds himself performing in a stage play and falling in love with the production's seductive leading lady (Farmiga).

I loved the storyline, but i didnt like the execution of it. This is a movie about a married (fairly weak and lacking a back bone kind of) man, just drifiting through life. One day, he gives his buddies a lift to the bank not realizing they're going to rob it. Afraid to open his mouth against the men that DID do the crime, he quietly goes to prison for them. In there, he meets a con man who becomes his friend and whose help he needs when he decides, well, Ive done the time, i might as well do the actual crime now.
Verga Farmiga was fabulous, and so was James Caan, but I absolutely disliked Keanu in this movie. He's not the strongest of all actors, but i thought he was beyond bland in this movie.
I also expected more jokes, but the entire movie just felt flat despite a very promising storyline.Henry's Crime - Jude
Saw a preview for this and it looked good. As is often the way, most of the good parts were in the preview... The first half of the movie was very slow, but the last quarter was entertaining. With a strong cast like this I did expect more. I don't know what it lacked, the storyline was good, the cast were good, but it just did not come together. An offbeat comedy/drama elevated by another terrific Varmiga turn - moviemonger
HENRY’S CRIME was one of the less buzzed-about films. It has a high profile cast, including Reeves, Caan and Farmiga- but the buzz just wasn’t there. But HENRY’S CRIME really needed a naturally brilliant actor along the lines of Phillip Seymour Hoffman, or even Norton in order to work. With Reeves, the premise just falls apart, especially as he’s so wooden acting out the play within the film, you never believe he’d possibly be able to win the role. If the heist portion of the film had been any good, HENRY’S CRIME might have worked, but the whole robbery scheme (bootlegger’s tunnel- really?) is so deadly dull and unconvincing that it just bored me silly. The only two really noteworthy things about HENRY’S CRIME are Farmiga and Caan. Caan and Farmiga aside, there’s not a heck of a lot here to distinguish HENRY’S CRIME. It’s not offensively bad, but it’s hopelessly mediocre and dull. It might not be a very bad film, but a great indie it is not.
