Meet Monica Velour
In this irreverent comedy, awkward teenager Tobe (Dustin Ingram) sets off on a road trip to meet Monica Velour (Kim Cattrall), his favorite '80s porn star, at a rare live appearance hundreds of miles away. Instead of the glamorous sexpot portrayed on film, he finds a 49-year-old single mom living in a trailer in rural Indiana, performing at seedy strip clubs to make ends meet. A starry-eyed Tobe, still captivated by his crush, befriends Monica, further complicating her difficult life. Kim Cattrall gives a career-defining performance in this offbeat love story that appeals to the dreamer - and the nerd - in all of us.

Anything I say will just duplicate what previous reviewers have already said. Great acting by Kim Cattrall (hooray, she's a Canuck!) and the rest of the cast also all-around great. This movie isn't for everyone...if you don't find the word "Frankenbooty" funny, rent something else. The bonus extras included are well worth watching as well.Unusual - terbo
This is one of those quirky movies full of larger-than-life, but real, people. Kim Cattrall does a fine job of playing the washed-up, washed-out ex-porn star on the edge of a steep downhill slope of despair. Dustin Ingram plays the gawky teen, who tries to save her while dealing with his own growing pains. There are some excellent performances in minor roles from Brian Dennehy and Keith David. It's a strange little tale, but everything works; funny and emotional with nothing either glorified or brushed under the carpet(although the porn clips are played for laughs, rather than the sordid, sad reality).Wow - Kim Cattral is one good actor !! - lookingjust
This is Kim Cattral's movie from the second she appears on screen. She is simply amazing and so very brave to play a has-been porn star, no make-up, a few added pounds and all. I can't think of any other mid-career actress who would be so gutsy - and you still can't take your eyes off her. This is also an amusing story with lots of nice quirky side bits. My main complaint is that the lead actor seems to be channeling Jon Heder as his character Napoleon Dynamite almost exactly!! He looks like him, he acts a lot like him (Napoleon Dynamite, not Jon Heder) - it is really kinda offputting. It's like the producers said "we need a Napoleon Dynamite character for this role" and then somehow cloned him! If you can get over that - this is simply a wonderful movie.
