Our Idiot Brother
Paul Rudd stars in this witty and highly relatable comedy about that one family member who is always just a little bit behind the curve. For sisters Miranda (Elizabeth Banks), Natalie (Zooey Deschanel), and Liz (Emily Mortimer) that person is their upbeat brother Ned, an organic farmer whose willingness to rely on honesty and trusting of humankind allows for a trouble-free existence. Ned may be utterly lacking in common sense, but he is their brother and after his girlfriend dumps him and boots him off the farm, his sisters must once again come to his rescue. As Miranda, Natalie and Liz each take a turn at housing Ned, their brother's unfailing commitment to honesty creates more than a few messes in their comfortable routines. But after seeing life through Ned’s optimistic perspective, his family comes to realize that maybe, Ned isn't such an idiot after all.

Movie may be an ensemble cast, but its music is suited for only one character: Paul Rudd’s - Ned - moviemonger
Our Idiot Brother, aside from its anemic comedy, is an inability to offer convincing drama. There are times when the movie wants to be taken seriously, but the screenplay lacks the conviction to generate honest emotions and Peretz doesn't have the deftness of touch necessary to navigate the thin line between melodrama and farce. The drama is as wishy-washy as the comedy. Our Idiot Brother isn't bad; it's just a waste of time. It will probably play better on the small screen than the big one, where it feels like a film festival darling with no appeal beyond the isolated bubble of an adoring Park City crowd. There are laughs to be had here, but they are fewer and less hearty than they should be, and Our Idiot Brother offers so little beyond them that it would be surprising if this title did not end up on the fast track to obscurity. Few moments in Our Idiot Brother are written simply for laughs; however, when it gets in a groove, Our Idiot Brother can be a whole lot of fun. Often, though, the film doesn’t achieve the right balance. Which doesn’t make Our Idiot Brother a bad movie, just a confused one. OUR IDIOT BROTHER strikes me as the type of comedy that will strike a chord with a lot of folks looking for something with a bit more heart and warmth than your typical comedy. While it's not short on laughs (the packed audience I saw it with was howling throughout), it's also a lot warmer and more life-affirming than you'd think.what kind of name is zooey? - CaptainRhodes
Zooey Deschanel needs to stop being in movies.
USELESS FACTS:
Elizabeth Banks and Paul Rudd, who play siblings in this movie, played a couple in Role Models and Wet Hot American Summer.
Rashida Jones and Paul Rudd previously played a couple in I Love You, Man. Here she plays Ned's sister's girlfriend.misdemeanour of frauding the audience - movie_goer
Paul Rudd is the black sheep who stirs the pot inevertently when his sisters pile on their secrets and personal problems only to become loose lip and create a catasophe of drama.
The downfall is the misleading title and cheesy trailer you'd expect Idiotic slapstick, raunchy humour as most of Paul Rudd's movie credits empasize on it's brainless antics. Instead to my surprise the movies enjoyable and endearing. Oddly enough I could place myself in Rudd's shoes, and the angus of a cheating girlfriend, losing a job, going to jail and worse losing custody of your beloved dog.
