Contagion
Nothing spreads like fear.
A lethal airborne virus that kills within days spreads quickly. As the epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society falling apart at the seams.

Great Soderberg Movie - TheGame
This movie explores the possibilities and dangers of living in a society where worldwide transportation is readily available as a means of spreading disease. The assumptions are all plausible and move with a rather frightening logic to their devastating conclusions.
While this movie moves along quickly and definitely holds ones attention it is also depressingly feasible and demonstrates how vulnerable our society is to the spread of a serious disease and how thin the veneer of civilization that protects it from chaos really is.
The movie is rated PG-13 but the subject matter is serious enough that I would take care as to which members of the family saw it; it has some very disturbing scenes showing patients as the disease advances.Has all the ingredients but.... - Mano
Big names all around....good music, nice locations, near perfect doomsday scenario, yet the mocie fails to have us by our throats. Somewhere along the way it loses its momentum and becomes very predictable. Soderbergh seems to be conflicted about making an authentic virus movie and a suspenseful drama.
I must say the last few minutes was superb. Bit simplistic perhaps, yet nicely done.
Why did all the top actors give such bland performance? The kids out did them!!
Average.so-so. - sooz
i love love love apocalyptic and post apocalyptic stories, and will end up watching almost anything from that sci fi subgenre ... even when i suspect it won't be a particularly new 'take' on an old subject.
enter Contagion. how can a movie with the end of the world as we know it for a theme, this cast, and probably a decent budget end up being so lacklustre? so lacking in drama or suspense?
i mean i didn't expect a profound story or a truely original take on the theme, but i did expect some suspense. is that too much to ask?
i'm giving it three stars cause i can't say i disliked it. if there was a star for meh. ho-hum or so-so that's what i'd pick
