The 6-disc set features over 16 hours of entertainment from the entire first season. All of the originally broadcast episodes are presented her for the first time in 5.1 Surround.

DS9 - Season 1 - thehabsfan

DS9 is my favourite show of all time. So why did I only give this season a 3-star review? Well, it's because season 1, while still good, is by far the worst season of the show.

There are still some excellent episodes like Captive Pursuit and Duet. And Emissary is the best Star Trek pilot episode. However, some of the worst episodes of DS9 are found in this season like, The Passenger, If Wishes Were Horses, and Move Along Home.

The biggest problem with this season is the episodes are too much like TNG. Whereas that wouldn't be a problem on a show like TNG, the setting of DS9 does not lend itself easily to the TNG-style of episode.

And the Universe comes to DS9 - Yukon

The only Star Trek series set on a space station, DS9 has an entirely different flavour from the space-going series. The action comes TO Deep Space 9 and the non-Starfleet and non-human characters are an integral part of the story. Then there are the Bajorans, originally introduced in TNG with the inimitable Ro Laren. The proximity to the planet of Bajor allows us to explore a fascinating landscape and culture to a depth that we only see in the movies with Vulcan, for example. It's my favourite series, probably because of the character development and the humour. Benjamin Sisko and Kira Nerys spin an uneasy alliance into a firm friendship. Dax, Odo, Bashir, O'Brien and Keiko - all excellent actors - make up a dynamic team. OPs is fully as interesting as any starship bridge! And who wouldn't want to visit Quark's bar or hang out with Jake and Nog on the promenade?

Sure this is a spinoff of the next generation series but the series is totally different than the other star trek series. DS9 does not center on a single space ship and its crew, or even the federation, but trys to do something completely different.Ds9 explores the background of all the interesting alien races we have seen in the other series.In this series we learn how human the ferengi are, how religon is important to the bajorans and even the lighter side of the Cardassians.When the series ends it ties up the storyline nicely.Here are other important events you won't find in other star trek series
1. the biggest space battle of all time(season six)
2.A real Klingon wedding(Season 6)
3. introduction of the first cloaking federation ship( season 3)
4. New races like the dominion (season 2)
5. Captain kirk meets the Ds9 crew

The series builds on itself so you have to start on the first season to fully understand most of the story line.But once you started you will probably rent the other 7 seasons.They are well worth it.
