Ground breaking - jackd

This is the series that set the television world into looking for the next big thing. Even though the ratings weren't super strong the network stuck withit and let it develope into what it is today. The actors chemistry is a little rough to start yet the storylines carry the the show. That is till the the chemistry is found. The first season never gets old cause the term ripped from the headliines is so true.

The beginning... - Cricri7

If you are a fan of the Law and Order franchises, you may have missed the absolute beginning of these multiple series. It is fun to watch, or watch them again, these episodes. What is a common denominator to these stories are the strong actors they had over the years. Dan Florek, who is in still in SVU, is one of the strongest actors on television. Chris Noth is good, but he has still has not developped his personna entirely in the beginning of the stories. This is the fun of this series...seeing those actors maturing over the years!

This show by rights should have been failed. It was so contriversial that it couldn't keep advertisers, For the first few seasons the actors didnt get along, and it dealt with subjects that made the audience uneasy. yet today, 15 years later it has three spin offs, computer games, and is still must see tv. Why did it make it? because it was sheer genius. The first year is really well done, especially because of the obvious tension between Dzunda and Noth, as well as some startling performances by Moriarty. guest stars include Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City), Phillip Seymor Hoffman(Capote) and JOhn Spencer (West Wing). Featuring shows on racially motivated murder, abortion, malpractice and more, This season is a great start for those who have never seen it, and a treat for those who have only seen the episodes with newer cast members. (There are no original cast members left on the show today).
