Steadily Getting Better and Better - Tinseltown_Tess

I really couldn't wait to get my hands on this season after seeing the previous two, but in the back of my head there was always the fear that it had peaked and would only descend into a vast wilderness of sitcom cliches and general suckiness. I couldn't have been more wrong. The scripts got funnier, the acting better and the overall feel that much more awesome. My favorites? "The Mistake" and "Halloween Party". These are definite classics in the Newsradio history.

This is where it gets really good - LunaSkya

Like a lot of shows (most notably, Married with Children and the brilliant Canadian show Billable Hours), Newsradio started out with an attempt at realism, then proceeded to descend into hilarious absurdity. By the 3rd season, there's no pretension of realism: the show finds its strength in absurdity worthy of Kafka (but much funnier). The cast is amazing (yes, millionaire Jimmy James is the Stapler Guy from Office Space) and the writing gets better with every episode.

The Newsroom with more sitcominess - Saultonofswing

Newsradio was a one of the more appealing 90's sitcoms, joining the ranks of other NBC hits like Frasier and Seinfeld but never rising nearly as high ratings-wise. The third season is the show at its most consistently funny, finding new ways to fill the traditional sitcom formula of pratfalls and one liners. If you're a fan of inner office comedies such as WKRP Cincinnati or Just Shoot Me, or even darker media war room comedies like the Newsroom or Larry Sanders, this is probably the show for you.

With 25 episodes, there are guest appearances by Jon Stewart, James Caan, and Ben Stiller. Unfortunately, with lackluster commentaries, drab fly-on-the-wall documentaries, and an overlong, bleeped-to-hell blooper reel, the extras aren't much to recommend. However, if you're a fan of the show or you've just heard of it, this is as good a season to start with as any.
