The Ultimate Edition
A disaster in space pushes humankind toward World War III, and only James Bond can prevent it in this magnificent, pull-out-all-the-stops movie spectacular. Sean Connery returns as Agent 007, who travels to Japan to stop the evil SPECTRE organisation and its diabolical leader, Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Donald Pleasence), from instigating global warfare from his massive headquarters in an inactive volcano.

The third villain with a crazy plan movie, and the first to feature a massive lair. A fun movie, with some good lines and great gadgets. I believe that this movie gets away with its sexism and subtle racism because it is a Bond movie, but even so, it's a bit rough on modern politically-correct sensibilities. If you do not get hung up on these issues, though, it is a good film, and certainly starts and ends with a bang.
My favorite Sean Connery!

Not only does this adventure include a Sean Connery that is visibly right at home with his character, but it also takes place entirely in Japan where ancestral customs are merged with modern technology (of that time).
The result? A terrific JB adventure coupled with a side-trip to Japan while we're at it :) oh, and there's Little Nelly in this one! Such a cool gadget; I wish they had used it more than once.
One of his coolest flying gadgets ever, I think.
Anyway, if you only want to see the best JB made, then this one must be on your list! Arigato, Bond-San.

I would tend to believe that this has to be the weakest of the Sean Connery era. The big production values are still there but it does drag on a bit too much in the middle of the movie. The storyline though is a very good one with not only the required international intrigue but even an outer space twist. So why does Bond have to marry a Japanese girl and become a Ninja? That part in my opinion, was a bit unnecessary in the movie. Besides that, the cast is great doing a fine acting job with a good dialogue. Donald Pleasance as Blofeld is particularily good even though it takes quite a while before we get to see him. The sets and locations are superb, the soundtrack is very good as well as the camera work. The action scenes are as spectacular as always. All in all, a good entry but after two excellent installments (Goldfinger and Thunderball), this to me was a bit of a let down. Recommended nonetheless as it is still far superior to most action movies of the period.
