A Most Delicious Comedy from the Creator of "Sex and the City"

Jack Bourdain had it all but messed it up going wild. Four years later, he ends up with a crappy job in Pizza Chain. Then, he gets an offer to get back in the game as the chef of a famous restaurant.

This was a really great show, with appealing actors and interesting stories. The best part was the pace -- it moved fast enough to keep my attention, and believe me, I need fast paced stuff to keep my attention. Bradly Cooper is a great actor and was his usual fine self here, totally stealing the scene as he did in The Hangove, another great film set.

I have read all of Anthony Bourdain's books and even eaten a couple of times in his restaurant in New York so I was interested in seeing the sitcom inspired by his book Kitchen confidential. I am a big fan of restaurants and of what goes on behind the scenes and this sitcom portrays it in an ironic and funny way.

It got canceled after one season and I don't know why because it was funny. It may not have been the funniest sitcom around but it is funnier than most shows I have seen on television. Bradley Cooper is really funny and the English guy that steals everything is a hoot. You should see this sitcom!

A Great Place in A Cool Neighbourhood, Closed Too Soon - Sandman2

Kitchen Confidential had all the earmarks of a hit-in-the-making: Ties to a best-selling book, an appealing cast, a new(ish) premise, quick-footed direction, a cool ambience and a witty script. So what happened? Well, in a word, Fox Broadcasting happened. The network didn't really give this show time to find its feet when it first aired. It was moved around the schedule and then axed after fewer than half the episodes shot had aired, and that's a shame. The pilot, while not great, is solid. The script is clever, but the later episodes are better, and faster. Some of the characters seem a little stereotyped at first, and there's a little too much exposition throughout, especially in the pilot. Viewers who didn't know Anthony Bourdain's book (on which the show is *very* loosely based) didn't know what to expect - but then neither did viewers who had read the book, which doesn't really have that much in common with the show. (Even the Bourdain character, the genius-diva chef zestfully played by Bradley Cooper, isn't Tony, here, but Jack.)

But if the network had given the show time to work out a few kinks, it might have had a hit on its hands. The scripts get cleverer and naughtier as the episodes progress, and the cast develops a great, cheeky, sexy rapport. Does it give an accurate picture of life behind the kitchen doors? Probably not - but then, did M*A*S*H* tell the real story of Army doctors during the Korean War? Did Mary Richards work at a real tv newsdesk? Did Sports Night blow the lid off working at ESPN's SportsCenter? Would we have watched if they had?

We can only hope that some clever producer gives these performers another shot. Bradley Cooper has great comic timing, and brings off a nice mixture of arrogance and sparkle. Owain Yeoman, as the daredevil sous-chef, as self-indulgent out of the kitchen as he is disciplined in it, is another breakout star. And it's wonderful to see Morena Baccarin try her hand at bedroom farce!
