Watch as the lawless era of Deadwood comes to an end. This DVD is loaded with bonus features including two featurettes, audio commentaries and more.

I like swearing, the more the better. That's how they used to do it in the old west I guess. There could have been more violence and, especially, nudity in the show but maybe that's just my personal taste. I have to say that bringing on that dude from Simon & Simon was a bad choice. Didn't like the character, don't like the actor. Every one else in the cast is great.

Why are the best shows always cancelled just as they hit their stride?

Deadwood is by far the best TV program I've ever seen. The writing, acting, sets and costumes are amazing. The dialogue intellegent - it never once talked down to the audience.

I was saddened to realize there would be no more episodes. I am not one to visit fan sites, but I found myself visiting them, just to see if there was any hope of it coming back - there isn't.

Even though you're left hanging and wanting more, it is well worth the time to watch all three seasons and see what TV can really do.

Deadwood was very impressive season one, slightly less so season two, but disappointing season three. The season focuses too much on new storylines. The Hearst storyline is interesting and needed to explain the development of the west and how dishonest and deadly life was in a frontier camp. Gerald McRaney does an outstanding job as George Hearst. Who knew Major Dad could be so mean?

The other new storylines are weak. The storylines about Jack Langrishe and his group of actors, Aunt Lou and her son, Steve the drunk and his feud with Hostetler, and Wyatt Earp and his brother don't hold the interest of the viewer in the same way as previous storylines. The Jane/Joanie/fat man involvement with the school children storyline is pointless and painful to watch.

The characters of E.B. Farnum(William Sanderson), Charlie Utter(Dayton Callie), Martha Bullock(Anna Gunn), and Doc Cochran(Brad Dourif) are underused and not in any major or interesting storylines. The characters of Rev. Smith(Ray McKinnon) and Wild Bill Hickok(Keith Carradine) which were only in the first season are sadly missed.

Season three's faults could have been corrected had there been a fourth season. Unfortunately the show was cancelled. Storylines are not wrapped up at the end of the season. I'm left wondering what happened to the characters, and disappointed that what originally was a groudbreaking and entertaining series endly so badly.
