Fun - Even if it is the FIRST time you've seen it!! - fairweather

My 9 year old absolutely LOVED this Voyagers series. I have heard.. and reheard.. him tell me the story of the Titanic along with disscussions on vaccinations, etc, etc.. as a result of the ideas they bring up in the adventures. It is a good stepping off point for more discussion on many interesting and historical topics. It is also just plain kid-friendly fun as a time travelling series. I found the acting geared for youngsters and obviously a bit wooden or corny to the adult taste, a bit like stage acting. But excellent children's entertainment and not too hard to watch with a child (as mine excitedly insisted on). If you can suspend disbelief and go with the story they present to you, the series has good storylines and interesting plot twists and development. The series centers around something going wrong to skew the timeline and the two main characters having to go back in time and set it right each time. When they do, they get a "green" light on their time travelling "watch" machine, called an "Omni". It is an easy series to absorb - entertaining and kid-friendly. I had never heard of the series before I found it on zip and I appreciate the other member's reviews which helped me zip the first disk to try. Even if you have never seen or heard of this series, you will find it fun entertainment for children. Recommended.

I've been watching the Voyagers! TV series with my kids. I watched it back when it came out at the same age as my kids are now, they can't get enough of this series. For me, it holds up pretty well. The time travel effects are a little dated but the sets, props and stunts are surprisingly good. And you can't come up with a better name for the lead than Phineas Bogg. Jon-Erik Hexum played him with the perfect mix of camp and irony. Too bad he died so young and tragically. He was a genuine screen idol in the making.
Quite suitably, Meeno Peluce (who plays the boy) went on to become a high school history teacher!

Unlike Dr. Who and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, they never really explain why everyone speaks English. But hey, they have a hand held time machine. Really, I think they might have a universal translator built in too!

WOW I am so happy to see this come out on DVD.
JON ERIC HEXON would have been so famous if he had not died so young. I am sure he would have been a George Clooney or a Brad Pitt. He was a good actor and HOT!!!
BE warned however as much as I loved this show because of JON there are some unbelieveable moments.. LIKE how everyone in the world speaks English..Jeffrey cries more then anyone Ive ever seen on TV...Where does he find his red and white shirt every week.. HOWEVER I am rewatching the series and love it despite the glareing problems
The two actors really had chemistry. You could tell they were friends.
I hope U all rent and enjoy...
