Since its arrival in the 70's, metal has been one of the most enduring forms of popular music culture the world has known and with bands such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Iron Maiden leading the way through the 70's and 80's, it's stature grew. Rumored by the media to have died many times along the way, thanks to the likes of Metallica and Pantera in the 90's, and, Mastodon and Shadows Fall in the 21st century it is, of course, gloriously un-dead and continues to mutate and acquire new fans along the way.
Created by award-winning duo Director Dick Carruthers and Producer Jim Parsons, Heavy Metal: Louder Than Life long overdue film that unravels the music, the myths and the mayhem.
It is a film that informs and entertains the uninitiated and for the hardcore metal fans, it is a benchmark, reinforcing and reaffirming allegiance. Packed with new interviews with the people that matter with the people that matter, amazing live performances, rare archive footage and with a soundtrack spanning over 30 years, it's time to unleash the madness...

Decent - ragman
Ive seen a number of documentaries about metal and this one is one of the better ones. My main problem is they are trying to define things about it that quite frankly dont need defining,it just is. It has a fantastic collection of artists to speak on the topic. Many who go off topic at points. All in all its a pretty good descriptive of the style and the bonus features are amusing.
