You Can't Stop Progress

It was the movie that stunned audiences, shocked the MPAA and marked the debut of one of the most uncompromising filmmakers in modern horror. Golden Globe winner Dylan McDermott (The Practice) stars as a post-apocalyptic scavenger who brings home a battered cyborg skull for his metal-sculptor girlfriend. Stacey Travis (Ghost World) co-star - along with appearances by Iggy Pop, Lemmy of Motorhead and much by Ministry and Public Image Ltd. - in the kick-ass sci-fi thriller from Richard Stanley (Dust Devil) that Fangoria calls "gritty, trippy and frightening.... The Future is.... 'dusty' (and unwashed) - Thwib

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooring. :)

After a full 30 mins of very little happening the flick finally gets going somewhere around the 40 min mark which gives you about another 50 mins of what might pass for action.

Johnny Five from Short Circuit equips himself with sharp and spiky things in some chicks apartment who happens to be the only person for 50 miles who's taken a shower in the last six months.

Robot-boy then spends a few short sequences sawing up a mattress and generally being a bit nasty. Hero dude gets drugged and killed; but no-one cares because you're praying for a merciful end so that you can get back to your life.

Was hoping for more, but alas it was not to be. Avoid.

Unknown and fantastic - Ubik

Why is this movie not better known? This is not some stupid shlocky B-sci/horror nonsense. This is the real deal, a real film. Oh, don't get me wrong, it is violent, intensely so, but it is also shockingly literate. In fact, it has the feel and thematic resonance of a science fiction novel. Its thematic sources include Greek mythology, the Bible, and Philip K. Dick, but it is also its own beast, a thoughtful, unique, intense, memorable experience. It's about a lot of things, and if you watch it properly, you'll have quite a bit to think about afterwards.

The world it creates is very real, to the last detail. None of it has that cheap sci-fi feel to it; it seems like an authentic, lived-in, post-apocalyptic world. Also, the script and dialogue are smart, smarter than you may at first think. The acting is all perfectly sufficient for what the movie does. And, perhaps most surprisingly, the hero is a woman, a clever, strong, and perfectly capable woman.

Then there's the bad guy, a terrifying contraption you only see bits and pieces of in quick flashes of light. It's a scary thing, and the action scenes are very well done.

Basically, this movie is great.

I loved this movie didn't even know it was out there but i'm so glad we rented it the perfect horror flick for me and I also loved the story line this maybe my own opinion but this is a flick to see if you like blood and gore we sure did and it is scary well I thought it was i covered my eyes a few times lol but worth the watch hope you enjoy it as we did.hotshot69
