Every child is special
Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary) is an eight-year-old whose world is filled with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate; colors, fish, dogs and kites are just not important in the world of adults, who are much more interested in things like homework, marks, and neatness. And Ishaan just cannot seem to get anything right in class. When he gets into far more trouble than his parents can handle, he is packed off to boarding school to be disciplined. Things are no different at his new school, and Ishaan has to contend with the added trauma of separation from his family. One day a new art teacher bursts onto the scene, Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Aamir Khan), who infects the students with joy and optimism. He breaks all the rules of how things are done by asking them to think, dream and imagine, and all the children respond with enthusiasm, all except Ishaan. Nikumbh soon realizes that Ishaan is very unhappy, and he sets out to discover why. With time, patience and care, he ultimately helps Ishaan find himself.

beautiful storytelling! - loobie
Forget the musical interludes and that this is a Disney film, then you're left with a wonderfully touching movie. The story of dyslexia is one that needs telling. This film tells it with sensitivity, humor and visual interest. The young boy is a wonderful actor. I teared up a few times even though I don't usually cry while watching movies.Well meaning, but sappy - Makrakis
A sweet film, pretty well acted, and with interesting cultural insight, but the Bollywood type songs are very long and exceedingly sappy. Good take on dyslexia, and probably good for kids, but for adults it is a little saccharin. It's Disney, after all, which might have kept us from renting it had that detail been more prominent.Love the story - LilyandMick
This was little slow when they started and didn't expect to have much strong story, but then it turned into little more than a simple story in the end and had more emotion and education. This is one of the movie that you don't expect to have much and get more out of it.
