This penultimate season saw the departure of original cast member Jason Priestley ("Brandon"), who would only return briefly - "via videotape" - at the end of the show's run. Also leaving the cast was Tiffani-Amber Thiessen ("Valerie"), who did return (in person) for the show's ultimate finale. Taking their places in the regular cast were Vanessa Marcil (Las Vegas) as "Gina" and a returning Luke Perry ("Dylan"), who was now billed as a "Special Guest Star".
