Ego meets Eco.

From the team behind Arrested Development comes Running Wilde, a romantic comedy starring Will Arnett as Steven Wilde, the playboy son of a rich oil tycoon trying desperately to win the heart of his childhood sweetheart, Emmy Kadubic (Keri Russell), the eco-liberal humanitarian who got away.

With Emmy committed to doing good for nothing, and Steve being a good-for-nothing, will this hopelessly mismatched pair ever be able to reconcile their differences?

Will Arnett is the highlight - TWSS

I'm a big Will Arnett fan from Arrested Development. This show has a similar kind of feel, but the cast isn't quite as good and the story line is pretty limited. I would have liked to see the develop into a second season but it obviously failed rating wise. Not bad but not a classic either.

Really disappointing - eli_quincy

As a fan of Arrested Development (as well as Will Arnett), I had high hopes for Running Wilde. Needless to say, I was disappointed. The show never found its groove, and while its leads were likable, they never had the right chemistry, nor did the show ever discover a tone that worked for it. These episodes are fitfully entertaining -- and there are some very funny episodes -- but if you go in expecting the consistent brilliance of Arrested Development, you'll be extremely disappointed.

....but just didn't work.

I've loved Keri Russell since her Felicity days, and I was really rooting for this show. I stuck with it, hoping it would grow on me, but instead, it became a chore to watch by the end.

The main problem here was Keri. She was miscast, being woefully unable to deliver this sort of comedy. They needed someone like Arnett's real life wife, Amy Poeler, to make this zany premise funny.

Russell tries hard, but it like she's running as fast as she can, while everyone else is at a slow jog; It's obvious this is hard work for her, and she almost ends up trying too hard.

The final death nail was the absence of chemistry, both comedic and romantic, between Russell and Arnett. For this show to work, the viewer needed to want these two to get together, even as they enjoyed their spats, not unlike Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd in Moonlighting. But at best I didn't care if they ever hooked up, and at worst I didn't want her anywhere near him.

Hard core Will Arnett fans still may want to check this out. It's not without some laughs. But by and large I'd sadly have to recommend passing on this one.

P.S. I loved the name they gave Russell's daughter - puddle. Too cute. And she was a good little actress. I'm sure we'll see her again.
