The Film
200 Cadillacs
is a documentary film that focuses on the generosity of Elvis Presley. The King's gift of choice was a shiny new Cadillac. The producers sought out candid and personal interviews with many of the recipients of these automobiles and other extraordinary gifts. Elvis' original drummer, D.J. Fontana, back-up singers Gordon Stoker of the Jordanaires and Myrna Smith of the Sweet Inspirations, personal nurse Marian Cocke, longtime girlfriend Linda Thompson, karate instructor Kang Rhee, Cadillac salesmen Joey Abel and Ernie Barrasso, personal assistant Jerry Schilling and many others tell touching and often funny stories of Elvis Presley's generosity. These interviews are presented with over 200 photos of Elvis during different periods of his life, including many never before published.

Not overly fun, but sort of interesting!

This is a pretty good movie about Elvis' generosity with his fortune and how he seemed to live for pleasing other people.
His joy for giving is really highlighted, and it's interesting to hear the stories about how he actually changed people's lives by giving them cars, rings, etc.
There were some great pictures of Elvis throughout his career and the stories are fun. I didn't really feel overly attached to the film - I'm not an Elvis fan, so I'm not sure if that matters.
It's an alright rental, but don't go too far out of your way to pick it up.
200 Cadillacs is a "Fun" Documentary

In a nutshell, "200 Cadillacs" chronicals the generousity of Elvis Presley. This is not a documentary which requires you to be a Elvis fan.
There are interviews with some well known Elvis associates and stories about people Elvis did not even know. It is estimated he gave away well over 200 Cadillacs in his career. He also gave away rings, and other cars. The stories are fun. They have stories from the salesmen at the Cadillac car dealership in Memphis.
The entire body of work paints a picture of a man who was extremely generous with his money. It would be interesting to analyse Elvis' behaviour to understand why he gave most of his fortune away. Why did he get so much enjoyment from giving to others?
It is funny to hear the stories from Elvis' personal nurse -- who only accepted the cadillac on the advice of her employer. Or the interviews with Elvis' hair dresser (who also substitutes as spiritual advisor). There is the Denver police officer who is asked to sign autographs because he has a car given to him by Elvis --- and how that moment changed his entire life.
There is a "soundtrack" which I could do without. The movie did not appear to have any actual Elvis songs.
There are some good stories here --- and you get more out of it when you look for the story behind the story.
