The Blues Brothers
Expanded Version With Bonus Footage
After the release of Jake Blues from prison, he and brother Elwood go to visit the orphanage where they were raised by nuns. They learn that the church stopped its support and will sell the place unless the tax on the property is paid within 11 days. The brothers decide to raise the money by putting their blues band back together and staging a big gig. They may be on a "mission from God" but they're making enemies everywhere they go.

Still Good After All These Years

Over 30 years on, and it's still fun to watch, although seeing it again for the first time in a couple of decades, I'd say it's good but not great. Other reviewers here pretty much say it all, but for me the high lights are: James Brown and the gospel church choir, Aretha Franklin and her "Think" scene and Cab Calloway doing his classic "Minnie the Moocher". And yeh, nobody but nobody has got the moves like Akroyd and Belushi!
Solid comedy, though overrated

There were few performers funnier than John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd making the rounds in 1980, and "The Blues Brothers" features several classic, hilarious moments. It just isn't quite the comedy classic that many would have you believe. There's plenty of filler in this flick as well as a couple scenes that just seem a little racist viewed now, 30-plus years after the movie's release. Zip it, but temper your expectations or risk coming out with the blues.
An Eccentric Cult Classic

This definitive cult classic combines two of the pioneers of Saturday Night Live in a hilarious comedy, indulging into their characters from the show. John Belushi and Dan Akroyd are Jake and Elwood Blues, two eccentric brothers who are "On A Mission From God". They seem to inevitably find themselves in large amounts of trouble. The most fun is living vicariously through them as they stick it to the police and other authority figures and evade the consequences. Blues fans will rave over the fantastic soundtrack full of classic blues tunes from the biggest stars. This film is one that will have you quoting lines, singing along, and quite possibly dancing like Elwood. By the way, sunglasses can be worn at all times, black never goes out of style, and dry white toast is quite possibly the world's perfect food.
