One man is copying the most notorious killers in history. One at a time. Together, two women must stop him from killing again. Or they're next.
One of the best-reviewed thrillers of recent years is Copycat, an adrenaline pumper about the desperate hunt for a mass murderer who copies serial killers of the recent past. An ambitious San Francisco homicide detective and a noted criminal psychologist piece together a jigsaw puzzle of crime as they close in on a friend with a knack for staying a step ahead...and leaving a body behind.

This is a solid 3 star film for it's genre.

This is not worth a bad review, nor is it worth a great review. It is worth this review. It is part Silence of the Lambs and part the Bone Collector. It is about a woman who is an expert on the killer in question, yet she cannot leave her apartment to aide in the investigation. Holly hunter is good as the lead agent on the case of a serial killer and Harry Connick Jr. is good as a brain dead hick who attempts to murder Sigourney Weaver. I haven't given anything of the plot away because I want people who haven't seen it to give it a chance and then decide whether this review is accurate or those that give this one a poor rating are accurate.
Not the best of this type, but not the worst either.

If you like serial killer movies, this isn't the best by a long shot. Never-the-less it's worth watching. The story is fairly original, the acting is decent and the direction is pretty good. It's no "Seven"; if you haven't seen that, pass on this and rent it right away. The same goes for "Silence of the Lambs", probably the best of this type ever to be made. But, hey, I like these kinds of movies, kind of a fascination with the killers. Just don't get those expectations up to high.

There were as many foreseeable events as unforseeable events. Holly Hunter's character is played well though lacks depth. Sigourney Weaver is INCREDIBLE (and I wouldn't say that about every roll she's played). The movie tastefully tells a tale of gruesome acts of a twisted mind. It could have been done by using shocking scenes and tastless detail but the audience was spared in those ways. I thoroughly enjoyed this film, would recommend it to friends andwould probably even watch it again.
