Selena St. George stares at the note and news clipping: her estranged mother Dolores has been accused of murder. Grudgingly, Selena returns to her tiny Maine Hometown to offer help. Not that she believes Dolores is innocent. In truth, she harbors suspicions going back 20 years.

More than five stars - Widdershins

Over the years I've watched many films in which Kathy Bates has starred in, or even had minor roles , and I can't remember one that moved more that Delores Claiborne. Kathy is one of those rare actors who can convey a range of emotions without moving a muscle. She is so understated that her performance can sometimes scream out to you for attention.
This certainly isn't a light piece nor is it an easy film to watch. It does leave you full of admiration at the resiliency of women who WILL NOT surrender, who WILL NOT give up, who will do what it takes to provide justice for those they love, no matter what. Perhaps if there were more women who lived their lives with that kind of integrity, the world might be a safer place for small vulnerable creatures, and perhaps if there were fewer men who endangered small vulnerable beings, the world might be a brighter place.
Delores Claiborne embodies that strength and Kathy Bates plays her to perfection, with the admirable support of a cast of actors who also know how to dig deep and make a diffifult performance shine.
This movie deserves ten out of five stars.

If you've ever seem Misery then this movie will tingle your eye sight for more brillant work.
Kathy Bates is Dolores a woman accused of killing her life long boss. They accuse Her of motive,As a care taker and the only friend to this woman Dolores is heart broken when she finds out that she inherited Millions. Her Daughter selena flys over to defend her mother.But the past between them is cold and aquired. Dolores who admits to killing Selenas Father because he molosted her as a child. Selena deny's any recollection. Both at each others throats, the movie becomes intense, dramatic and possibly Kathy Bates best performance yet.

Chills and Thrills - Radio_Jane

This was one heck of a story. I watch it every six months or so and it still leaves my skin crawling. A dark tale of abuse, social stigma and how the mind copes, Dolores Claiborne is a real trip. The cinemetography is breathtaking and Bates and Liegh give stunning performances. If you are feeling up to heavy subject matter, give this one a try.
