Every Which Way But Loose

Clint meets Clyde in an All-Time Comedy Smash.

Philo Beddoe is your regular, easygoing, truck-driving guy. He's also the best barroom brawler west of the Rockies. And he lives with a 165-pound orangutan named Clyde. Like other guys, Philo finally falls in love - with a flighty singer who leads him on a screwball chase across the American Southwest. Nothing's in the way except a motorcycle gang, two sneaky off-duty cops and legendary brawler Tank Murdock.

Every Which Way But Loose was a change of pace for Clint Eastwood- and it proved to be one of his most popular films. With a soaring country score and a solid supporting cast including Sondra Locke, Geoffrey Lewis, Beverly D'Angelo and the great Ruth Gordon, it's in every which possible a grand time for all.

I had fond memories of this movie from watching it as a young kid, and in general am a big fan of Clint; nut I had to stop about halfway through cause I couldn't handle any more. Everything about this film, writing, directing, acting is slapdash. The opposition is a joke, that is constantly getting its ass handed to it, so why would you have any suspense about the final confrontation? If you're looking for a good screwball from this era go for "What's Up Doc?" or any of the dozens of great Clint films and don't waste your time with this one.

I always hate it when critics seem to hold every movie to the same standard. Lets face it, some movies aren't made to be thought-provoking, or be social commentaries - or even have a moral, although you can probably find one here if you try.

This movie is simply fun and entertaining. It's a bit dated now, although it still has the saddest motorcycle gang in history as the main protagonists, and the feistiest grandma in cinema bar none!

I've been renting a lot of Clintwood movies lately, and although this seems real departure from his best work, it is still a movie with lots of heart, and is as enjoyable now as it was back in the day. I had forgotten how successful this movie was, but watching it again I can see why... and everyone loves an orangutan, right?

This is my favorite from Clint Eastwood, it shows a more softer and comedian side from the actor. Eastwood gives a top grade performance,as a bare nuckle fighter he's dared to compete the biggest competition ever but does the opposite and resist in order to keep his girlfriend at bay. At the sametime he's chased by Zany wannabe Gangsters and Lawman who've bet his life and want to see through he fights. But to his defence Eastwood has his Orangutan to lend him a hand and some side humor, dishing out comedy at its best. I love this film. A must rent then Buy!!!
