The Holy Year

To get the gold, they'll need more than faith.

Max Lambert (Gabin), an aging infamous robber, is serving twenty years of incarceration in France's toughest jail for a quite hefty heist. Inside, he befriends Pierre (Brialy), a notorious escape artist. Max shares with him the hiding place of the fifty million dollars in pure gold that was never recovered by police - it's buried in a church just outside Rome. Together they plan an escape, dressed as a bishop and his assisting priest. It's the year of the saints and the two figure they can take advantage by hiding in the crowds of pilgrims that are coursing down the roads and through the airports leading to the holy city, knowing little about the incredible adventures that lie ahead.
