After returning to his hometown of New Orleans, Lionel (Campbell Scott) befriends lawyer W. Firmin Carter. Together they pass from martini soaked country club luncheons to elite parties thrown by the socialite Van Dyke sisters. As Lionel and Carter continue the party over the tracks of the upper crusts to the wasteland of Bourbon street bars, they begin an endless downward spiral into the underbelly of the Big Easy. When Carter turns up missing, Lionel becomes the prime suspect. Can Lionel redeem himself in the eyes of the high society's A-list or will he be first on the hit-list?
