The kids and I all loved this movie, in fact we have watched it quite a few times over the last few years.

Yes, it has all the usual cliches, stereotyping, predictability etc., but at the same time it is also very sweet, touching, funny, serious, moving, hilarious and entertaining.

(The only thing that does irritate me endlessly is that when A MAN is looking after the kids it is made to resemble a mission impossible and him being a super hero for doing this "hardest job ever" whereas when any WOMAN does this exact same job it is simply trivial, boring, and expected of her at the same time as she is expected to do a full time job (sorry, just had to rant at the sexism here).)

But really, loved the movie, rent it for some good family fun!!!

Who knew Vin could act in a family movie?!! He quite successfully pulled it off, proving yet again that he's much more than just your macho action hero. The film itself is a definite recommendation for all families with children who can sit through a non-animated movie. A favorite for the pre-tween to teenage fan base as they're already warmed up to Vin's "style". Two prune-sucked thumbs up!

Van Diesel is loveable and a sweet charmer, i couldn't help but feel this was no different then 'kindergardener cop'. A Strong man you picture taking tough and serious roles...Diesel warms the screne with his clumsy fatherly approach. The message behind this story? Not sure could be many things like get to know your kids and love them for who they are? or just believing in yourself and others... Diesel managed to turn a past void (his fathers distance) and change into a hands on figure to the kids, Rewriting the past into the future.
