The Da Vinci Code - TheWiz

Don't watch this movie if you have just read the book within the last 18 months. The book leaves a lasting impression, much like the Harry Potter first book. You'll be setting yourself up for disappointment. That is what happened to us. But lately, we had an opprtunity to watch this film again and it was like the reversal of a dog! Two comments. I wouldn't have cast the brilliant Tom Hanks in this role. It's not a good fit. Sam Neil would have been a much better choice. Also, Zip partially lists this film under Religion. This movie has nothing to do with Religion as all of the driving facts are pure fiction and Religious people will find this listing as being insulting.

Very entertaining - Nezzra

This is a great movie and an even better book! Yes, this movie has some anti-Christian views however it is a fictional story and therefore can be enjoyed by anyone! I am a Christian but still found the STORY to be exciting and well thought out. You can enjoy the movie without taking it to be truth.

Better the second time - ladytonia

This movie is one that gets better with multiple viewings. Second time was better than the first, and third was even better.

The first time I watched this I was so distracted by Tom Hanks performace that I could hardly concentrate on the movie, the second time I was waiting for the next clue, and the next piece of the book to be revealed. The third time I just watched the movie.

If you just watch the movie it is much better. Tom Hanks performace is still not his best, but at least I have gotten used to his look by now. Instead of anticipating the story I just let it happen, which improves the effect quite a bit.

Incredible scenery, wonderful shots of the Louvre, WestMinster Abby, Overall Paris... Great overall cast, and really an intriuging story line. I do recommend watching, but you do need to let the film happen instead of trying to constantly compare to the book.
