ON the way to spring break, a group of college kids taks a detour through an old Southern town. The people of Pleasant Valley insist the kids stay for their annual barbecue celebration... but instead of getting a taste of the old South, the old South gets a taste of them!

something went horribly wrong between the positive review i read for this film and the time i sat down to actually watch it. someone turned this into a softcore porn-lit and -acted horror comedy bore-fest.

wow. i haven't seen the original cult film, so i may have missed a few cute references, but there's no way all the bad acting/cinematography/editing of the entire movie was a quirky homage.

.. oh my god, there's a sequel!

Not bad! - Kazam

Pros:Creative kills, blood and gore abound, the northern travelers were likeable for the most part. The films final act which includes a showdown between the two survivors and Mayor Buckman and the citizens of Pleasant Valley was awesome. Lin Shaye gives a good performance as Granny Boone despite limited screen time.

Cons:With the exception of Robert Englund as Mayor Buckman The villains weren't badass enough, and like I stated in the review everything is spelled out to the viewer too quickly as to what will happen to these kids and how. I also did not like the ending and the chain of events which lead up to the films final ending left me shaking my head.

Overall: Average horror movie that has a few items which save it from being a total waste of time. Worth a rental when it hits dvd March 28th.

Yee-haw! The South’s Gonna Rise Again - kav2001c

For the first title under their newly formed Raw Nerve banner, executive producers Eli Roth, Boaz Yakin, and Scott Spiegel decided they needed something that would capture the attention of long-time horror fans everywhere. Something that would perk their interest and make them want to see other Raw Nerve movies. That something would turn out to be a loose remake of Herschell Gordon Lewis’ 1963 campy gore flick, Two Thousand Maniacs! And it would also star genre cult figure Robert Englund for good measure.
Three college friends are on their way to Daytona Beach for spring break and along the way they end-up in Pleasant Valley, Georgia. A small town that looks like it has barely taken any steps outside of the Civil War. Everyone there seems nice, Mayor Buckman (Englund) and his Rebel flag eye patch couldn’t be more welcoming, and a few other people have also ended up in the town.
Pleasant Valley is certainly, well, pleasant. All the new guests are invited to stay for the upcoming "Guts And Glory Jubilee", given all the food and drink they could ever want, made part of the town’s celebration, and also tempted with promises of sex from a few of the local gals and guys.
Turns out the people of Pleasant Valley are the murdering sort, have a hankering for the taste for human flesh, and that the jubilee is their way of getting back at the Union Army for destroying their village way back in 1865.
From there the blood starts to flow
