Has the dust really settled?

A psychological thriller with political and social undertones set in today's New York. It's a story of anger, revenge, and retribution so timely it could be true. It begins when Ashade, a Muslim cab driver picks up Phoebe, a well-heeled professional woman. Although Ashade and Phoebe have nothing in common, each holds troubling urges and secret motivations. When Phoebe takes an interest in exonerating Ashade's brother, who is in jail, a series of events are set in motion resulting in the revelation of devestating hidden truths.

Fascinating, Yet Strangely Creepy. - Jeefster

Kudos to Robin for her bang-on portrayal of an unbalanced weirdo! The movie is very well acted and definitely keeps you interested in what's going on as you are slowly let into the mind of this whackjob. At first you want to believe that the central character is the "good guy" but as she starts portraying herself in a true light, then you get to see just how unbalanced she really is and you find yourself hoping she will straighten herself out and things will get better for all involved in her little sicko games.
Not to be. And therein lies the twist in this film, a bit of a surprise actually, and if this movie doesn't make your stomach churn after seeing the final scene, then YOU need help. This movie will leave an indelible mark on your memory and you will want to go have a shower after watching this. As one reviewer put it, it is likened to "Single White Female". Only more disturbing.
Rent it. Just to say you've seen it when discussions fly around the dinner table, everyone having a different view as to what transpired throughout. Then watch it for a second time to straighten out what really transpired in this film.
And after giving this 4 stars I can't say that I enjoyed this film so much as was emotionally affected by it.

Powerful Acting and Good Story - JWo-

Some will hate this movie and some will be left thinking about the movie. This movie stands out in my mind all week after watching several other movies throughout two weekends. Robin Wright Penn's acting was really good. The flow of the movie was excellent as it draws you questioning why this? and why that? The twist in the end was excellent. I never saw that coming at all. To sum up the whats the movie about? Its about a woman who wanted to help make a difference, and in her mind she wants to be a contributor since 9/11. It is sad that to see that there are such people around in NYc as I myself was there on 9/11. The mental torture exist among the people but it is not an excuse to take justice in our own hands to torture other civilians just because they are muslim. A must see for those who looks for a good acting, story and a different perspective in live.

You might not like it, but you'll admire it - eoguy

I considered giving this creepy film only two stars, but the performances by Robin Wright Penn and Abdel Kechiche were so spectacular I had to up my star level in admiration. This is a story of a woman bitter with jealousy. Her self-absorption and sense of entitlement have become the ugliest kind of self-hatred. She is a liar, a thief, a charmer, a bigot, a sociopath. A Syrian cab driver has the misfortune of picking her up as a fare one night, and after that cannot get rid of her as she worms her way into his life and a family catastrophe that he has been trying to make right. Added to the mix are another woman, a prominent figure in the film, whom Wright Penn's character is connected with. Wright Penn is so good in this unforgiving role that just as you are mustering up some empathy for her, she dashes it, and cruelly. I didn't like this film, but I admired it.
