Taj Mahal Badalandabad (Kal Penn) leaves Coolidge College behind for the halls of Camford University in England, where he looks to continue his education, and teach an uptight student how to make the most out of her academic career.

Not Van Wilder for sure - hilkayaker

Meh, I didn't hate it, but I would never watch it again. It was not as funny as Van Wilder original or even Harold & Kumar, he is way better in that. I would not recomend it to most people. But if you like stupid, crude humour, this might be up your alley!!

Taj maholybad - Jack_the_Zipper

Seriously. I need to see a good movie. Perhaps I should stop torturing myself with "National Lampoon" or "American Pie" (Loved the first 3...After that...WOW). Hopefully nobody British sees this movie as the stereotypes are painfully embarrassing. "Pip" and "Rodger" as the 2 main bad guys? "Jolly Good" as their catch phrase? And seriously, who wrote this? My 2 year old son?

Have pubic hair? Avoid this movie. 90 minutes I'll never get back.

Target Audience Bound To Like This Movie - TheShamus

The film, "Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj" is squarely aimed at teenage/college aged kids. When you are this age, you are looking for a good laugh ... and you think a lot about parties and the opposite sex. This same plot has been recycled over and over again with titles like, "Revenge of the Nerds" and "Old School" and even "Beer Fest". This latest foray, "The Rise of Taj" is not going to be the most memberable release, but it is not completely horrible.

One standout in the movie has to be actor, "Kal Penn" (who you may know from playing "Kumar" in the "Harold and Kumar" movies). This guy proves he has charisma and likeability. On the other hand, Penn ends up playing the token comedic "India" role in both TV and movies. It would be good to see what he could do in a different role.

Regardless, there are still plenty of silly gags here ... and several gratuitous "topless" girl scenes. There are plenty of special features, but they are unnecessary (unless you needed to know they bring in "porn actresses" to do the topless scenes).

If you like a movie like, "Old School", this movie should appeal to a similar crowd.

For general audiences, kids, seniors, etc ... this movie is not recommended.
