A comedy of biblical proportions.

Polished, preening newscaster Evan Baxter (Steve Carell) is the next one anointed by God to accomplish a holy mission in this sequel to Bruce Almighty.

Newly elected to Congress, Evan leaves Buffalo behind and shepherds his family to suburban northern Virginia. Once there, his life gets turned upside-down when God (Morgan Freeman) appears and mysteriously commands him to build an ark. But his befuddled family just can't decide whether Evan is having an extraordinary mid-life crisis or is truly onto something of Biblical proportions...

G Movie - KevinJaques

Might have been a propaganda piece for the Pope, it presented God so positively. It was outright revisionist, presenting the Noah's Ark story as a love story. Maybe they aren't clear on Old Testament versus New Testament. The Old Testament, which contains the Ark story, is all about smiting.

Steve Carell, Morgan Freeman and John Goodman all do good jobs, but the movie is aimed at an 8 year old level of sophistication except with a 1950s Disney movie level of wholesomeness.

It was amiable enough, and I really liked the old school construction of the huge boat.

Enjoyable - Spacey

I thought this movie was entertaining, and a lot of the acting was good. The story of this film follows a newly appointed senator and his family as he enters congress and is visited by God as he acts to 'Change the World'; his campaign slogan.

The overall premise of the story is that of Noah and his ark. There is a gaping hole in the plot when we see that he collects two of EVERY animal, and see the area that is flooded: many of the animals collected are not indigenous to Washington, D.C. so why collect them at all?

I do think that Sykes comic relief was important to parts of this movie, as they likely would not have been funny otherwise. Overall it's a good movie to see with family or on a lazy Sunday... just don't look to hard at the story.

Something went wrong at the end - canadiankaty

I loved this movie up until the last thirty minutes. Watching everything fall apart at the end was quite sad, because I was really rooting for this movie. I absolutely love Wanda Sykes, who co-stars on "The New Adventures of Old Christine", playing Julia Louis-Dreyfus' best friend, so that was a huge bonus for me. John Goodman's character was not well-developed at all, which was a shame. There were points in the movie where I felt the same magic of the bible stories that I had as a child, and I literally felt goosebumps. The point where everything went wrong is when the flood began, and the arc crashed into the Chamber of Congress - they went overboard there, pardon the pun. Overall, it is a feel-good movie, and I would see it if you ever attended Sunday school as a child.
