This thoroughly modern version of A Midsummer Night's Dream erupts in a tight-knit Oregon neighborhood as local professor Harry Stevenson (Morgan Freeman) witnesses love whipping up mischief among the town's residents - who include Greg Kinnear, Selma Blair, Radha Michell, Billy Burke, Alexa Davalos, Toby Hemmingway and Jane Alexander - all their stories intertwine into one remarkable romantic fable.

Enjoy the relationships. - Steady

I almost went back and watched this movie again to see all the sex scenes I missed. But, of course, there weren’t any. I think some viewers have a repressed, active imagination. This is a well told story about relationships and love. Not all endings are happy ones but they do end as they should.

Truly watchable and entertaining with a great cast.

I did not want this movie to end - Coulongeon

I loved this movie. Some reviewer said it was porno! There was no out-of-line material in this story about the trials of love. Maybe they were looking for some shoot 'em up western. If you enjoy movies that tell the stories about life, ya gotta see this one. There may have been some obvious foreshadowing, but so what? This story centres around the story telling of a gentle giant, Morgan Freeman. The sub plots intertwine smoothly and Freeman continually grounds us and keeps us on track. What more could you ask for? If you enjoy romantic tragedies with silver linings you will defintely enjoy this excellent movie. Absolutely rent it!

Not your typical love story but a beautiful one none the less - Silvaden

I will fully admit that the impression that i had of what this movie was going to be like after reading the synopsis and seeing the trailer was far different than what the movie delivered.

The movie is a love story but one that shows just how crazy and diverse love can be and how different each of us are in the kind of love we seek, the kind we can give and the way it all fits together. The relationships aren't perfect, in fact they all have their own disfunctions or challenges that they have to face. This isn't a fairy tale, but a beautiful tale all the same.

As one of the other reviewers did mention there is a lot more nudity and sex in this film than the preview suggests and if that's something that would bother you or ruin a movie then this one may not be for you but i would add to that the fact that it's done in a way that exposes the nature of the relationship in a very honest way. The passion of an affair or rushed attraction of two young people in love happens all the time and usually movies will hide it beneath closed doors or covered sheets but this film admits that it's a part of this crazy game we call love.

The acting in my opinion is quite good overall. every so often there are moments that could have been better but i was well impressed with the way the actors brought the characters and the world they lived in to life.

I'd highly recommend this movie to people who enjoy a story of love and relationships in all their craziness and are not afraid to go through a bit of pain and saddness to see the beauty of it all.
