As Xmas 3007 approaches, the Futurama crew must fight to save Earth in an epic battle against nudist alien Internet scammers. When the evil naked aliens launch a cyber-attack on Planet Express, they make a shocking discovery: the secret of time travel, mysteriously tattooed on Fry's buttocks. Using their devious nudist software to control Bender, they repeatedly send the beer-fueled robot back in time to loot Earth of its greatest treasures. Bender's rampage through history has shocking repercussions when he encounters Al Gore (guest-starring as himself) during the 2000 Presidential recount. Meanwhile, Leela finds true love, a beloved crew member suffers an embarrassing decapitation, and Fry learns deep secrets about his destiny and his buttocks.

Sporadically Amusing - rnhaas

This is alright. I'm not the world's biggest fan of the show but it has its moments. This also has its moments. It also has moments of "plot plot plot" where they lose sight of the idea that this is supposed to be funny. But there are a couple really great lines and a lot more mildly amusing moments. It was certainly reasonably entertaining. The only problem is that it doesn't make me want to watch more of the movies, which, you know, it should.

Two years after being cancelled, the cultishly adored tv series Futurama returned in the form of direct-to-dvd movies. This first one reflects the way the show's hit-and-miss jokes are made up for by how much fun it is just to spend time with these characters. Here, the gang must save Earth from three conniving aliens amidst time-travel hijinks.

The writers are used to writing 22-minute episodes, and you can really feel them straining to stretch out this plot. As a result, it ends up feeling rather... episodic, at first. But the story becomes engrossing, and rather touching.

I agree with reviews that say they lost the funny at the expense of trying to insert a neat sci fi time travel story. However, it was still a blast for me as a Futurama fan to revisit my favourite characters. Also the extras on the DVD were a lot of fun so they get an extra star on the rating for that.
Two of the elements of the story that didn't work for me were the fact the scammers took over everything, making our main characters passive bystanders, and the fact Bender was under the scammers' control so he wasn't free to be the rebel anything goes character which is where his comedy stems from.
One thing I do have to mention is Ken Keeler writes amazing songs. On the commentary they comment how his songs don't follow a strong melody and it makes them tricky to learn, and it also makes them so unique for me. They are inventive, fun and unlike any other music number I have heard. I love them.
