He planned his life like clockwork. Now things are going cuckoo.

He's getting his life together by falling apart.

Efficiency expert Frank Allen makes lists. And lists of lists. He has time scheduled, planned, parsed and pigeonholed. Then one day he's 10 minutes late (not due to any inefficiency on his part, of course). And tht sparks a comic chain reaction that puts Frank in bed with a hottie, in the maternity ward with a very expectant mother and in trouble with his wife, who doesn't buy his innocent explanations. His orderly life is out of control - and, wow, is chaos fun! Ryan Reynolds (Definitely, Maybe), Emily Mortimer (Lars and the Real Girl) and Stuart Townsend (Queen of the Damned) star in this alternately funny and touching fable that - when it's all scheduledm planned, parsed and pigeonholed - measures happiness not in the hours we spend, but in the people we love.

I only have 3 words - binky

I can't believe I continued to watch this film. Those 3 words are 'awful, awful, awful'. The music was intrusive and painful. While ryan reynolds took on a new persona in this film - he should definitely not give up his day job as a slightly talented pretty boy comedian.

To make a film about an obsessive compulsive man who is sterile and can't come to grips with the fact that he has a child - and 'how did that happen' is unbelievably banal and just out of the dark ages. He should go back to working in a 'pizza shop' (he was originally in '2 guys and a pizza shop'.

This was a gripping story with a real passionate performance by Ryan Reynolds. He plays the role of Frank, an obsessive man, and a perfectionist who has a career teaching others how to be efficient and organized. He lives by his words and there is no room in his life for spontaneity. One morning, as a joke his wife decides to shake things up and turn back the clock by 10 minutes. A simple prank spirals out of control as Frank begins to see his orderly routine crumble, not to mention his sanity after learning devastating secrets that were kept from him. The movie has tons of dark and quirky humour, serious moments as well as several endearing scenes between Frank and his daughter. I'll also add the concluding speech about chaos theory was extremely touching and kudos to the script writers for including it. I didn't really know what Frank's destiny would turn out like, but sometimes those surprises have the best endings.

The main problem with this film is that it aims to be a number of things and succeeds in none of them. As a comedy there is almost nothing funny about it, that is, unless you are amused by scenes of a drunken husband, Ryan Reynolds, falling into bed with a woman on the make (twice no less and with the same woman each time) or Emily Mortimer, his wife to be, selecting her future husband from a group of male friends at a bar on the basis of what each one calls his dick. As a romantic story it fails because there is little basis for romance between the two leads. We meet them in earnest only after some 10 years of marriage in which romance seems to have flown out the window. Compounding the problem is that there is virtually no chemistry between Ms. Mortimer and Mr. Reynolds. As a drama it also doesn’t work because the plot can’t be taken seriously. I rather doubt that the spouses of a 10-year long marriage would act toward each other--and in Mr. Reynolds case, toward his long-time friend--in the childish way that they do on the grounds of the events and revelations that occur. Perhaps their reactions are intended to be comedic. In that case, however, they are silly, not funny.
