In a parallel Earth ruled by the Crime Syndicate, the Justice League must fight their evil doppelgangers in a battle that would be dead even, except that their malicious counterparts are willing to do the one thing Batman and Superman never would: kill.

Lots of punching, but doesn't pack a punch - thenewguy

Crises On Two Earths throws us directly into the concept that there are multiple dimensions and that there's an Earth where good and evil are reversed. That is, on the "other" Earth the Joker and Lex are the good guys and Superman and Batman (etc) are the bad guys.

A big play for power is happening on the other Earth and so Opposite Lex recruits our Earth's Justice League to save his planet.

What follows is mostly a series of battles in which super heroes battle their super villain counterparts. At first this is interesting, but it quickly becomes obvious that having a bunch of flying invulnerable people punching other flying invulnerable people doesn't really solve anything, especially when the good guys can't kill their counterparts. The bad guys can always get up and fight again the next day.

Things finally get interesting when the other Batman (Owlman) decides to try to blow up all the various Earths. And the climax is well executed and exciting.

All through the film the animation is good, the quips are fun, without being over-done, and the creativity, especially where Green Lantern's powers are concerned is great. My only serious complaint is the general lack of opportunities taken with the writing. Yes, we have some good punch-ups, but there was a great chance here to talk about philosophy, good vs evil as concepts, and if it's okay to kill someone who otherwise can't be stopped. All of that was ignored in favour of showing a long serious of action shots. They were good action shots, but I think the film could have benefited a lot by mixing in some ethical questions too.

Enjoyable but missing something - bd--

I liked this DC movie, as I've liked most of the animated DC productions Bruce Timm has been a part of. Really missed Kevin Conroy as Batman though. Owlman and Superwoman were great, much more interesting than some of the others. I particularly liked the way the "good guy" Lex Luthor was portrayed.

HOwever, I was bothered by the romance and outcome between the daughter of the alternate President (a neat cameo) and Martian Manhunter. Wonder Woman was right and the way it was written up to that point made J'onn's decision seem wrong to me.

All in all, a good movie though.

If Batman was only played by Kevin Conroy, I would give this movie a higher rating. But the casting of William Baldwin spoiled the movie. Seriously, Baldwin does not convey the dark, bad ass attitude of Batman.

Otherwise, a very good animated movie. Battle sequences are just fantastic, and the entire idea of an Earth Prime is a stroke of genius.
