King Kong
Ann Darrow (Naomi Watts), an actress from the world of vaudeville, finds herself out of a job in Depression-era New York. Her luck changes when she meets Carl Denham (Jack Black). Denham is an entrepreneur, raconteur, adventurer and filmmaker who is struggling to make a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Bold, ebullient and charismatic, Denham has a natural sense of showmanship and an appetite for greatness, which ultimately leads to catastrophe.
Meanwhile, Jack Driscoll (Adrien Brody), a New York playwright, finds his heart and physical courage are put to the test when a gigantic ape is captured in the wild and brought to civilization.

The most beautiful movie I have ever seen! - vidviewer
Of all the movies I have ever seen, which would easily number in the hundreds, I have not until now seen one so amazingly beautiful and breathtaking, not only from a visual sense, but also from an emotional sense. If you haven't already done so, you must see this in either BluRay or HD-DVD in order to appreciate the incredible amount of effort that went into creating the main character in this movie, King Kong. It is hard to believe that this is a computer generated creature, only existing in cyberspace. I cannot even imagine how much work or time was painstakingly put into creating this amazing creature. King Kong is so real you can almost reach out and touch him. No movies before or since (not even Avatar) can approach this level of realism in CGI. But it doesn't stop there, the jungle in which he lives and the other creatures are nearly as realistic. The story is also wonderful, and Naomi Watts and the supporting cast gave the performance of their lives. For me, even the extended version was not long enough! But admittedly, the movie would be too long for those who have grown up on Much Music videos and have to take Ritalin to maintain some control in school. Not quite King, but still good. - colinbrain
The film overall brings a lot of cool moments to the view and it is mostly stunning. Where it falls short is the intense length... There are huge sections of this film that could have been cut out and we'd be none the wiser, and perhaps a little bit less sore-bottomed by the end. Overall the cinematography is brilliant, along with the sets and CGI... really no expense spared work. The acting as well is first rate (despite the odd casting of Jack Black who has a few forehead slapper moments). I don't suggest watching the extended edition unless you're already a fan... it simply prolongs the sequences and adds nothing terribly special. Give it a go, but don't start it too late! (If it wasn't so beautiful I'd give it a 3, but since is gorgeous, 4/5)It was Beauty killed the beast - hilkayaker
Worst, corniest line ever!!
That said, really good movie : ) I loved it. A little jumpy and scary at times. The scenes where Kong battled the dinoseaur are some of the best talents I have ever seen in film. The cinimatography, special effects, and choreography were really cool. Jack Black was a little corny, but the other actors were all really amazing. The scenery was just so pretty!!
