This was a fun thing to watch on a Friday night. There is nothing profound about the story, nor do you really learn anything new about American history, unless you don't know who killed Lincoln.
Nicolas Cage suits this role. He doesn't try to be Indiana Jones, but he very much makes this character his own. And it is nice to see John Voight and Helen Mirren, two great actors, as Gates' parents. As well, Bruce Greenwood, who gave such a wonderful performance as JFK, is yet again playing an (unnamed) American president.
All in good fun.Worth Watching - canvanjohn63
The movie is about Ben Gate`s(Nicolas Cage) attempts to clear his family name after his great-great-grandfather is accused years after the fact of plotting the assassination of Lincoln.
During this adventure, Gates, his father, his love and his buddy travel to Paris, London, Washington and Mount Rushmore. These adventures are both fun and exciting. I particularly enjoyed Diane Kruger’s performance. She makes a great contribution to the craziness while being a perfect complement to Cage’s character. The group continually run into resistance from Ed Harris' character.
The set and action in the Mount Rushmore sequence reminded me of the Indiana Jones movies.
I enjoyed the movie. The cast was exceptional. I had no feelings of redundancy because I didn’t see the prequel.A Good Watch - MrNibnibs
Although I liked the first one much better, this had some really memorable, great, fun to watch scenes.
I found many weak points in this movie, probably could have been done better in some parts and the talk of a 3rd national treasure I wouldn't get to excited personally.
Nick Cage doesn't really do anything but blurt out the answer to the problem and move on to the next, find a solution, move on to the next.
It got boring at times but it was an overall good watch.
