Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman & the sorely missed Heath Ledger. Sound good? You bet! Now for the mundane; the rest of the cast and the story; from beginning to end. What fascinates this senior movie watcher is that Heath was able to pull off, at a youthful age, a performance so equal to that of Jack Nicholson's amazing portrayal of the Joker. Amazing considering Heath's age at the time! It's all down from here: Bale being the worse. Doesn't fit the image and when disguised as Batman talks as if he has laryngitis. My Wife, tween and teen (girls) found the movie to be awful. Personally, I can see where a young boy, sophmore movie movie goer or an avid Batman fan may find this heavily CGI coated production with crushing 120db soundtrack of interest. Not a family flick.Amazing! - MFisher
This would have to be my favourite Batman movie. It was very entertaining, amazing fight scenes and effects. But what really makes this movie is Heath Ledger as the Joker. This is a slightly different joker than we are used to seeing, he is a psychopath and very dark and evil. He does an amazing job playing this role! You decide if it lives up to the hype. - usernameya
In a time where just about every comic book hero is given it's own movie thanks to the technology we have nowadays, it's hard to tell what is actually good and what isn't. Surprisingly, a lot of the comic book movies aren't that bad, but they aren't that great either. And of course, a few just downright suck...this is all in my opinion of course ;)
So in came The Dark Knight. When I seen it, all I could say was wow and bravo...and encore. Now I know there are people out there that give it so much praise you would think there is not even one thing wrong with the film, in other words, they're overrating it (which it seems like I just did with my wow, bravo, and encore). But I think why people have been so ecstatic about the film is because they've been exposed to so much Hollywood formula movies, when something unique like this comes along, they finally feel like they can breath as a moviegoer. I don't think it's as great as I hear a lot of people make it out to be, but it is some damn good filmmaking.
The acting is great (thanks Heath Ledger) and the plot is very Batman-esque. The great thing with the Batman comics is he can be a very dark character, which allows someone who wants to tell a story with him to explore humanities deepest desires, feelings, insecurities etc.
The attempt at humor in the film falls short sometimes but Christian Bale's "Batman voice" should keep you laughing slightly throughout. I can't believe no one told him to modify his voice to something less comical sounding. He's just trying to hard.
With so much hype around a movie, how could you not see it and want to give your own 2 cents about it, even it is to yourself.
