You seriously have to be under 15 to like this - SirDrake
I cannot fathom how anyone over the age of 15 would seriously like this movie. At best, it is marginally entertaining. The action is pointless and amateurish. The plot is plodding and obvious. The acting is decent but apart from that there isn't much to like about the movie. At least put in some semi-nudity or skimpily dressed girls, but there was none of that unfortunately.Another SuperHero Flick - newdaysof
If you like superhero action flicks, then you'll probably like this one. The superhero in this film doesn't wear a mask or a costume, but he has special powers that he uses to fight the bad guys.
The script and dialogue are pretty good, and there is a lot of character development that goes into the storytelling. We actually care about the hero, his love interest, and the people that help him, including a loveable lizard and puppy. The special effects are good and the actors and acting is very good. The problem is, it's yet another superhero action movie and frankly, the movie industry is saturated with them. The plot and heroes/villians are too much like Hulk, Spiderman, Iron Man, Daredevil, Superman, Batman, The Green Lantern, X-Men, Captain America, Transformers, Thor ... and on and on and on. How many superaction heroes does our society need??
And with every superhero action flick, the plot always, always, always ends up with an intense twenty-minute-long battle scene with the hero using all of his special powers to fight the evil, ugly, cruel bad guys with lots of carnage and gore and intense violence. Then finally, our hero prevails and saves the damsel-in-distress and grows slightly stronger. How predictable and ultimately boring. Sure, the movie industry makes a TON of money churning out these formulaic comic-book type flicks, but enough is enough. I won't be seeing the sequel to this one.Too Much Fantasy - c4th
Let me first say this has all the trappings of an introduction to a multi-part saga and as such may eventually manage to develop a fan following similar to the one that enjoys the twilight series. When judged as a movie expected to stand on its own as a piece of art, it is disappointing and contains no qualities or performances capable of elevating it above sub grade.
To put is simply, there is far too much fantasy for fans to digest and accept in a one hundred and ten minute production. Creators just keep pulling a seemingly endless array of special powers or "legacies" out of a hat and abruptly thrusting them at viewers with no warning, no foreshadowing and no adherence to any apparent set of ground rules. Action scenes quickly become disengaging due to the rapid-fire display of images overblown with effects. This chaotic and frantic editing style destroys all opportunity to build suspense and leaves viewers wanting more substance.
Writers try hard to create a storyline of personal isolation and romantic struggle that is for the most part ignored as viewers attemp to uncover the background story involving alien conflict and infiltration. The poorly constructed and underdeveloped back story is perhaps this film’s greatest shortcoming. There may be sequels and possibly prequels to come but it seems over anxious writers lacked the discipline to introduce a well paced and logical prelude to the numerous treats they so zealously exposed before setting sufficient groundwork.
