Green Lantern
In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, an elite force of protectors for peace and justice has existed for centuries. They are the Green Lantern Corps. When a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of the Corps' newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds). Bringing the popular superhero to the big screen for the first time, Green Lantern also stars Blake Lively (Gossip Girl), Peter Sarsgaard (Orphan), Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes), Academy Award nominee Angela Bassett and Academy Award winner Tim Robbins.

average hero stuff - RV_BOLO
Could have been better but settled for being just your average super hero stuff without really stretching itself to be a great movie, just average.
4 star for a DVD rental but glad I didn't waste my money in the theatre. Its an o.k. story, entertaining, reasonably well acted, but falls a little flat and certainly well short of blockbuster.Action and Humour rolled into one . . . - Filmaholic
To be honest I did not really read many Green Lantern films as a child. The story line in this film is entertaining and it blends humour with action.
The film is very entertaining and well worth watching. There is no real deep moral message. This is a film to watch when you simply want to be entertained.
On a side note, I want that coffee machine.
Rent and enjoy. Your time will not be wasted.Green Lantern - djfunkybob
Green Lantern has always been one of my favourite superheroes because he was powerful but never got the same street cred as his DC Comics colleagues Superman and Batman. This film has a great message about believing in yourself and not succumbing to fear - a trait of each member of the Green Lantern Corps and probably the lesson I should have admired Green Lantern for in the first place. I found Sarsgaard’s unrecognizable villain to be somewhat interesting, but the film lacked a captivating villain along the lines of a Joker or Green Goblin. The special effects used to outfit the Green Lantern was state of the art except for the 1940’s prowler mask that made the superhero look like a caricature to not be taken seriously (think of a mix between Will Ferrell and Blankman). The film had a much deeper cast than I thought including Robbins, Sarsgaard and Bassett and I also enjoyed spotting the voice actors used for the more alien of the Green Lantern Corps.
