Ruby's Bucket of Blood
Ruby Delacroix (Angela Bassett) owns a popular juke joint on the Louisiana bayou, circa 1960. When she loses her star performer, she reluctantly hires a white singer, Billy Dupre (Kevin Anderson), as a replacement. But what she doesn't bargain for is falling in love with him. Unfortunately, in the Deep South, amid the first rumblings of the Civil Rights movement, Delacroix and Dupre's inflamed passion isn't a simple case of black and white.

Angela Basset was amazing in this movie. Ruby's Bucket of Blood follows the life of a proud Afro-American woman during the early 60's in the deep segregated south. The level of acting in the movie was superb and I was delightlfully surprised at the intricate relationships that were portrayed in the movie.
