Invictus
He was imprisoned 27 years for his heroic fight against apartheid. So what does Nelson Mandela do after he is elected president of South Africa? He rejects revenge, forgives his oppressors and finds hope of national unity in an unlikely place: the rugby field. Clint Eastwood (the National Board of Review's 2009 Best Director choice) powerfully directs an uplifting film about a team and a people inspired to greatness. In a performance that won him NBR's Best Actor Award and an Oscar nomination, Morgan Freeman portrays Mandela, who asks the national rugby team captain (Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominee Matt Damon) and his underdog squad to do the impossible and win the World Cup. One team, one country. The universal language of sports has never spoken so thrillingly as in Eastwood's Invictus.

I absolutely enjoyed this movie. I do not enjoy sports, but I love the triumph of the good. To watch the struggle that South Africa went through, even though it was only lightly covered made me grateful to live in Canada. Morgan Freeman is one of my favourites, and he did a wonderful job in this movie. I would highly recommend this movie.Great story - chavVez
I didn't know about this piece of South African history. It is really a great story and needed to be told. This may have been better with lesser known actors... although the performances were good, I had difficulty getting around the fact that these were Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman. Nonetheless, the story is really uplifting, making this a great watch.I am the Captain of my Soul... - imran1978
Most of us know or have at least heard of Nelson Mandela. Most biographies are focused on his aparthied-era life and unbelievable struggles that he went through fighting aparthied. This movie however, is focused on the struggles of post-aparthied, when Mandela became President and the new struggle was balancing a "new", fraglie country with many ghosts of a violent and vengeful history. The result is a beautiful film that portrays these struggles accurately, brilliantly and emotionally, all through the prism of the rugby world cup. This is a story of human triumph and spirit that people all over the world should take lessons from, and all the more amazing that everything portrayed is a true story.
