City Island
Laugh out loud with the Rizzo Family as Andy Garcia and Julianna Margulies delight audiences in this hilarious and touching comedy about a loud but lovable family that everyone can relate to!
Vince Rizzi (Andy Garcia) is an upstanding family man who works as a corrections officer, but secretly longs to be an actor. Ashamed to admit his aspirations, he would rather let his fiery wife, Joyce (Julianna Margulies), believe he's having an affair, than admit he's secretly taking acting classes. When Vince is asked to reveal his biggest secret in class, he inadvertently sets off chaotic chain of events that turns his suburban life upside-down. It soon becomes clear that everyone has something to hide. A perfect storm of deception and confusion makes Vince and his family realize that the truth may set him free, but first it will drive them nuts!
Co-starring Alan Arkin and Emily Mortimer and directed by Raymond De De Felitta, City Island is "a breath of fresh air" (Claudia Puig, USA Today).

City Island - Jude
I loved this movie. It was a bit slow starting, but once it got going, it was delightful. A wonderful twisty plot with many secrets, a great cast, all quirky and different and a fast pace made this a great watch. And learning about City Island, a real place, was a bonus.Sublime Island - babypook66
City Island; written and directed by Raymond De Felitta
Winner of the Audience Award at Tribeca, City Island is reminiscent of a thinking man's Little Miss Sunshine, with an even more dysfunctional yet endearing family.
A fabulous cast with a great screenplay, the film is a slow burn which builds to a jaw-dropping conclusion.
I've always liked Andy Garcia, and he is simply fantastic here. Fully deserving of a Best Actor nomination.
Charming score and beautifully filmed.
Released in only 269 theatres at it's widest, City Island deserves a wider audience.
Highly recommended.

City Island has that quirky indy feeling to it where all the character are flawed and interesting in strange ways. A prison guard trying to be an actor, a teen sexually obsessed with fat women eating, a daughter stripping in secret.....and a convict living in the shed. These quirks are at times strengths bringing the story its charm and at other times creats a oversll feeling of fakeness. The film climaxs in a tired screaming fight where all secrets are revealed and resolved. Still the overall theme of revealing yourself to loved ones rather than hiding it is nice and this is better than your standard studio comedies
